Was Prince a visionary?

I noticed that Prince (or the bathroom symbol), or whatever he's called these days, wrote a song "Nothing compares to U" quite a few years ago, before text messaging. Was he thinking and planning ahead? He changed his name to a symbol too, but sadly, everyone kept calling him "the artist formerly known as Prince", which ruined the whole effiiency of words effect. So--my question is...could Prince have been thinking of cell phones and potential future text messaging when he named his song, and tried to shorten his name? YR thoughts?
