What color should I paint my walls?

I have a big room that includes the kitchen and living room. The cabinets and floors are maple. The appliances are stainless steel, and the counters are dark granite, and there is a black couch and slate around the entry and fireplace. So, there is maple color, stainless steel color, and black. The walls are currently white, but look bland, and I'd like some color.
