Is hand fasting considered a Legal marriage between a man and woman in the state of Florida?

I mean...if the hand fasting ceremony was done years ago and now the couple split. Then, in that case, will a legal divorce be necessary before either member of the hand fasting couple could "remarry" another person (in a church or courthouse)? Are there any legal issues to be addressed here?
