Is this normal for Crappie Fish?
I had five Crappie on a stringer and put them in the back of the truck to go and get more bait. They were out of the water for about half an hour, and after getting the bait, I put the stringer back in the water. They were all dead by now. They were in the water for about an hour before we decided to leave. I pulled the stringer from the water, and slime was literally oozing from the fish, down to the water. Not dripping, oozing. I have never seen anything like this before. They looked like they were dipped in a cold pot of snot. Is this a halfway normal thing for Crappie? I filleted them and plan to eat a couple bites. If I don't wake up sick the next day, I'll eat the rest. Just really curious if this is normal or not. As disgusting as it looked, I would feel like a fool if I ate still ate them and got sick.
